Buenos Aires, April 1 (NA) – According to the latest report from the Center for Studies of the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA), industrial activity fell again in February. This deepens a stagnation trend that has been going on for several months, the Argentine News Agency (NA) was able to find out. According to the entity's estimates, industrial production recorded a 3% year-on-year drop in February, while in the monthly comparison it also showed a retreat of -0.8% without seasonality. The UIA report states that the decline is not an isolated phenomenon, but part of a broader picture. Industry "remains stagnant", with production levels similar to the 2025 average, which represents about a 10% drop from 2022 and 2023 levels. In the first two months of 2026, declines were recorded in sectors such as the automotive industry (-30.1% year-on-year), patenting of industrial machinery (-17.5%), metalworking (-8.2%), and cement shipments (-5.7%), reflecting weak demand in both the domestic and external markets. In February, in the monthly comparison, exports to Brazil, a key partner for the local industry, fell by 2.6%, mainly due to a 3% drop in the volume of cars sold to the neighboring country.
